According to reports, 16 precautionary measures are currently being implemented for the clashes that occurred on January 31st during the national demonstration organized to protest the eviction of the Askatasuna social center. These measures include pre-trial detention, house arrest, a ban on residence in the Piedmont capital, and the requirement to report to the judicial police daily.
The operation was conducted by the Turin police and coordinated by the prosecutor's office.
On the afternoon of January 31st, during the demonstration, part of the march broke away, heading toward Corso Regina Margherita, aiming to reach the former social center. Clashes erupted a short distance from the building: protesters, many of them masked, began throwing objects, rocks, and firecrackers at law enforcement, who responded with water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters.
During the riots, garbage bins used as barricades and a police vehicle were also set on fire, while a police officer was surrounded and shot by a group of masked people.
