US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces announced the destruction of five Iranian oil tankers following two attempts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to target a US warship with ballistic missiles. According to the US version, the five tankers were linked to the IRGC's financial network: four—the Kaviz, the Charminar, the Horizon 1, and the Riesco—were hit in the Gulf of Oman, while the Derya was attacked near Kharg Island, one of Tehran's main oil export hubs. Centcom also reported that the crews had been asked to abandon their vessels before the attacks.
