Body found in Salò woods: discovery during search for firewood
The lifeless body of a person, presumably a man, was discovered on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in a wooded area between Cunettone and Campoverde, in the Salò area. As reported by Brescia Today , the first person to notice anything unusual was a landowner who was in the area collecting firewood.
Among the leaves he glimpsed a pair of shoes and, moving closer to see what they were, he found himself in front of the corpse.
The man immediately raised the alarm, prompting the Carabinieri to intervene, who cordoned off the area and began an investigation. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition , making it more difficult to identify and reconstruct the victim's final moments.
Body among leaves in Salò woods: initial hypotheses emerge
Carabinieri from the Salò Company, supported by the coroner, arrived at the scene to conduct initial investigations and gather evidence useful for the investigation. Following the initial examination, the body was transferred to the morgue, where it will undergo an autopsy and DNA analysis . These tests will be crucial to establishing the victim's identity and clarifying the cause of death. At this time, it has not been possible to identify the body: no documents or personal effects that could help identify it have been found.
Investigators are also reviewing missing person reports filed in recent months , both in the Brescia area and elsewhere, to determine whether there may be a connection to a person who has been missing for some time. One of the initial hypotheses considered was a deliberate act , but no such conclusions have yet been confirmed. Investigations are continuing to shed full light on a matter that remains unclear.
