Lucca, October 29 (askanews) – Sensei Go Nagai is the guest of honor at Lucca Comics & Games, which is celebrating the 60th edition of Italy's largest event dedicated to comics, video games, series, and cinema. The famous manga artist, creator of such iconic characters as Grendizer, Mazinger, Devilman, and Steel Jeeg, spoke on the red carpet about his connection to Italy and its culture, recounting how and when he was inspired to create one of his masterpieces, Dante's Divine Comedy in comics. "My first encounter with Dante was as a child with the illustrated Divine Comedy, and those illustrations inspired me and made me want to create the vision of the world I saw in the Divine Comedy," he said. This is the master of comics's second time at Lucca Comics & Games: "I came to Lucca 40 years ago for the festival, and I'm impressed by how it has become; now it's much, much bigger."
