"More people, the husband may not be the killer," Resinovich case: the new hypothesis

Liliana Resinovich, from suspicions about Sebastiano Visintin to the analyzed evidence: the evidentiary hearing in Trieste seeks new evidence on the woman's death.

Nearly five years after Liliana Resinovich 's disappearance , the case continues to be the focus of questions and new investigative investigations. Her brother Sergio once again supports the murder theory and does not rule out the possibility of multiple perpetrators. Meanwhile, in Trieste, a new hearing is examining DNA and fingerprint analyses in the search for evidence useful in reconstructing what happened.

Liliana Resinovich's murder, brother Sergio: "She was killed, perhaps by multiple people."

«Liliana was killed, for sure. It could have been more than one person.». Sergio Resinovich, brother of Liliana, who spoke before the Court of Trieste before the hearing dedicated to the new genetic and fingerprint analyses.

The 63-year-old woman disappeared from her home on December 14, 2021 , and was found dead on January 5, 2022, in the woods outside the former San Giovanni psychiatric hospital.

The brother continues to exclude the hypothesis of suicide, although not necessarily indicating the brother-in-law Sebastiano Visintin, husband of the victim and the only suspect for homicide, as responsible for the death: «It could be that he has nothing to do with it, that someone else was involved.». However, he remains convinced that the man knows something.

Among the elements fueling his suspicions is the alleged transfer of the body to the place where it was found.

Liliana weighed about fifty kilos and, according to Sergio, it would have been difficult to carry her alone, especially at night and in a wooded area. «I don't think a person can do it alone, especially in a forest, in that darkness, at night, with all those holes.", he explained. The brother also called back the absence of soil on the woman's shoes, interpreting it as a sign that she did not reach the spot where she was found on her own.

New investigations into the Liliana Resinovich murder: DNA, fingerprints, and the black glove near the body

The hearing began at 9:30 a.m. today , October 30, at the Trieste Courthouse and is being held behind closed doors before investigating judge Flavia Mangiante, with the participation of prosecutor Ilaria Iozzi and chief prosecutor Patrizia Castaldini. Among the most significant elements that have emerged in the previous weeks is the discovery of a male genetic profile on Liliana's jeans and on one of the black bags used to wrap her body . Subsequent comparisons by the forensic police, however, have allowed them to trace those traces back to a worker who had handled the evidence during the investigations on July 28, 2023. Other genetic traces remain unclear, including the male one found on the cord holding the woman's keys.

On the fingerprint front, the new consultancy has found four tracks on the black bags with characteristics compatible with the black work glove found near the body. Experts have spoken of a "moderate support» to the hypothesis that they were produced precisely by contact with that garment.

The victim's husband was absent from the courtroom, but her brother Sergio was present, accompanied by his lawyer, Nicodemo Gentile. Gentile also emphasized the significance of the lack of traces of the woman on the evidence: " There are no fingerprints of Liliana, and this fact speaks volumes about a truth that deserves to be verified and developed ."
