Paris, September 9 (askanews) - The International Space Summit (Sommet international sur l'espace), the first international summit on space, kicks off at the Grand Palais in Paris, launched at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron and co-chaired by France and Germany. The first edition brings together nearly 120 delegations, excluding Russia, Iran, and North Korea, representing industry and research, to discuss the future of space: among the main topics are security, the development of the space economy, responsible use, and exploration.
Industrialists hope to secure numerous contracts in a market experiencing exponential growth thanks to satellite communications, Earth observation, and activities around the Moon. European competitiveness in the sector is also at the forefront. Notably absent are the US companies SpaceX and Blue Origin. Also representing Italy is Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy and the Authority Delegated to Space and Aerospace Policies.
