Chiara Nava A 56-year-old woman was reportedly attacked, kidnapped, and raped while returning to her home in the Monti district of Rome. The incident occurred on the night of July 5th. Weeks later, the Carabinieri of the Quirinale Station, together with the officers of the Operational Unit of the Rome Central Company, executed a pre-trial detention order against a 32-year-old Congolese man , already known to law enforcement.
The man is under investigation, on various counts, for kidnapping, sexual assault , and robbery. The measure was issued by the judicial authorities based on the evidence gathered during the investigation. His position will be assessed during the proceedings, respecting the presumption of innocence.
Robbery and violence in the Monti district
According to the victim's report, the woman was returning home when she was surprised from behind by an unknown man.
The man, after blocking her, allegedly forced her to open the door to the house. Once inside, according to the investigation, he sexually assaulted her before making off with some valuables.
The stolen goods listed in the complaint included jewelry and watches. After the attack, the 56-year-old woman was treated by medical personnel and transported to the emergency room at Isola Tiberina-Gemelli Hospital, where she underwent the required treatment and tests.
The episode immediately triggered investigations by the Carabinieri, who were called upon to precisely reconstruct the phases of the attack and identify the person responsible.
The investigations and the recovery of the stolen goods
The investigation was conducted through a series of technical and investigative activities: on-scene surveys, collection of biological samples, analysis of images recorded by video surveillance systems in the area, collection of testimonies, and photographic identification.
The investigators' work led to the collection of serious evidence against the 32-year-old. The man was subsequently located and arrested.
During the search of his home in the Trullo area, officers reportedly found some of the jewelry and watches stolen from the woman after the attack. Following his arrest, the 32-year-old was transferred to Rebibbia prison , where he remains at the disposal of judicial authorities. The investigation and inquiries will continue to clarify every aspect of the case and determine the suspect's responsibilities.
