It was a night of terror in Florence's historic center, where an 18-year-old American student was reportedly sexually assaulted inside a bar . According to the reconstruction of events, the young woman had entered the bar to ask to use the restroom, but the situation quickly escalated. Carabinieri arrested a 31-year-old Pakistani man for the incident, charging him with sexual assault.

The incidents reportedly occurred during the night between Tuesday, September 8th and Wednesday, September 9th. The woman was with a friend and, after leaving another establishment, stopped at a downtown business for something to eat. It was at that moment that she allegedly asked the shopkeeper if she could use the restroom.

The girl enters the bathroom and the place is closed

According to investigators' reconstruction, the 31-year-old allegedly accepted the young woman's request. After allowing her to enter the bathroom, however, he allegedly closed the door to the premises and waited outside. When the 18-year-old came out, the man attempted to kiss and grope her . The attack then continued with an attempt to undress her, even ripping off her underwear, according to the prosecution.

The girl reportedly responded by slapping the man and immediately looking for a way to escape . However, she realized that the door to the club had been locked and was therefore unable to leave.

The screams from the window and the intervention of the police

The young woman then reportedly sought help by leaning out a window and screaming to attract the attention of passersby. Her pleas for help apparently went unheard: some people in the area called 112 , prompting the police to intervene. The Carabinieri arrived on the scene within minutes and arrested the 31-year-old. He was subsequently transferred to the Sollicciano prison in Florence, where he is being held by the judicial authorities.
