(Adnkronos) – The plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from Moldova to Oslo for the funeral of King Harald of Norway was nearly hit by a drone, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said.
"His plane was almost hit by a drone while taking off from Moldova. This is the reality he lives in," Store told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK.
Zelensky arrived in Oslo last night.
The Ukrainian president has yet to mention the incident, but he did post about the latest Russian attacks on the country. "Near Sumy, a Russian drone struck a shopping mall. We already know that two people were killed and 14 others were identified in the initial stages. Following the brutal attack on nine people near Kiev," Zelensky wrote, "one person was killed and seven were injured, including two children.
During the night, the Russians launched a massive attack on Mykolaiv. Sadly, two people died and seven others were injured. My thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims.
“It is important,” the Ukrainian leader continued, “that all partners focus as much as possible and work in the relevant areas to reduce the intensity of attacks and intensify the fight against them.
We discussed this with the US President's team and with European representatives. Since this war against Russia is of paramount importance, all the terrorist attacks and tactics Russia is waging in Ukraine, which we expect and will defend ourselves against, could be subject to the same pressure and that of other powers. This is not just a matter of one region. Terrorism is always a threat to the wealthy and must be vigorously countered. To all those who contribute concretely to saving human lives.
