Aggravated homicide due to frivolous motives and premeditation. This is the charge being investigated by the Rome Juvenile Prosecutor's Office against the minor arrested and held responsible, along with other adults, only partially identified, for the murder of Ibrahim Dibba, the 27-year-old Gambian man shot dead on the evening of September 16th on Via XXIV Maggio in Latina.
The investigating judge yesterday ordered the minor and another adult arrested to be held in custody, recognizing "both the seriousness of the evidence and the need for precautionary measures." According to the reconstruction, the victim was lured from Villaggio Trieste, approached by a small car, and struck in the abdomen with several gunshots.
The murder is being charged with the aggravating circumstance of frivolous motives, "linked to an argument the previous day regarding the non-payment of a service and a slap received by the minor suspect, who allegedly reacted by firing gunshots in Via Pionieri della Bonifica."
The Juvenile Prosecutor's Office also alleges the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, based on the preparation of the vehicles, on-scene inspections of the victim's area, the use of the small car to reach the scene of the attack and escape, and the recovery of the weapon. The charges also include the illegal possession and carrying of a gun, including for the purpose of committing murder, the firing of several gunshots in the residential area and on the street, the threat to the victim with gunshots, and the sale, on September 16, of an unspecified quantity of crack cocaine to a person romantically linked to the victim.
The victim was found on the ground, already unconscious, with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. "It was a brutal crime that has caused social alarm," emphasized Rome's juvenile prosecutor, Giovanna Lebboroni. "There has been a relentless effort on the investigative front, with work conducted by the prosecutor's office at the Rome Juvenile Court, the Latina prosecutor's office, and the Flying Squad to reconstruct the dynamics and gather evidence. We are faced with a multi-aggravated, premeditated crime, committed with a firearm, and therefore not impulsively or as a result of impromptu arguments, but based on what has been reconstructed to date based on previous criminal incidents," the prosecutor emphasized at a press conference.
The involvement of the minor was reached through an analysis of recordings and stills from five different video surveillance systems installed in the area. These allowed the identification of the car used to commit the crime, "in terms of model, color, and license plate, on which the presence of the suspect was documented in the places and in the phases immediately preceding and following the murder, at approximately 8:07 PM and, after the crime, at approximately 8:16 PM, therefore approximately three or four minutes after the crime, and in the immediate vicinity of the scene of the murder."
The motive for the murder has also been reconstructed, linked to "previous relationships" between the victim and the minor related to drug dealing. Specifically, at 1:13 a.m. on September 16, a report was received of two gunshots fired under the porticoes of the buildings on Via Pionieri della Bonifica, and of people engaging in heated arguments. "The investigations conducted to date allow us to trace this explosion," the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office explained in a statement, "to an argument between the minor suspect and the murder victim." The car used in the crime was recovered in the town of Latina thanks to the collaboration of the rental company from which individuals close to two of the suspects had rented it, and thanks to a satellite tracking system.
