Garlasco Murder: Andrea Sempio Defends Hisself: "I've Always Worn Size 44"

Andrea Sempio returns to discuss the Garlasco crime and the latest developments in the investigation into Chiara Poggi's murder. In an exclusive interview with Sky TG24 , the 38-year-old suspect addresses the doubts surrounding the fingerprints found in the house, expresses confidence in the defense's findings, and confesses his fear of a possible arrest. Andrea Sempio breaks his silence on the Garlasco case: "I hope it never comes to a full trial."

In an exclusive interview with Sky TG24, conducted by Diletta Giuffrida, Andrea Sempio, 38, under investigation by the Pavia Prosecutor's Office for the murder of Chiara Poggi, commented on the latest developments in the investigation into the Garlasco crime.

While awaiting a possible indictment, the man expressed his desire to clarify his position before the courts, while also hoping not to face a full trial. " On the one hand, I'm happy that the investigation has finally been concluded ," he said, adding that he expects a request for indictment.

His goal, he explained, is to quickly reach at least the preliminary hearing , where he can discuss the evidence gathered and present his arguments. Sempio also admitted that he has been living with the fear of possible arrest since the beginning of the affair. When asked about the alleged corruption linked to the case , he clarified that he doesn't know whether his name is actually implicated in the investigation and what potential consequences it might have.

Among the key points of the interview were the investigations into the fingerprints found in the Garlasco house where Chiara Poggi was found dead. Sempio disputed the attribution of fingerprint 33, found on the wall along the stairwell leading to the cellar. " In our opinion, it cannot be attributed to me or anyone else ," he stated, explaining that other people would have left handprints there by leaning against the wall while descending. He also anticipated that the defense will respond to the charges through expert testimony, also questioning the presence of blood on the fingerprint.

Another element addressed concerns the shoe trace found by investigators in the house, which, according to the defense's reconstruction, is compatible with a size 39/40. " Since I was seventeen or eighteen, I've always been a size 44 ," Sempio emphasized, expressing confidence in the tests conducted by his consultants. Reportedly, the tests also involved a footwear technician and an expert from another field, who worked separately, without knowing each other's assessments, reaching consistent conclusions. The final assessments are expected within the framework of the investigation, with the indicated deadline of October 18th.

During the interview, Sempio finally turned his thoughts to the Poggi family , acknowledging the burden of the years spent in investigations and legal proceedings. " I've been here for two years, saying I'm suffering ," he declared, noting however that Chiara's family had to endure " years and years and years of trials " and the loss of their daughter. While admitting he had little to say to them, he expressed a desire to meet them: " I would have liked to meet them, I don't have much to say, but I would send them a hug ."

His statements come as the investigation approaches a new phase, in which the evidence gathered and the observations submitted by the parties will be evaluated. Sempio and his defense team's statements represent their position in the ongoing proceedings.
