The case involving Alessandro Basciano and his ex-partner Sophie Codegoni is now entering the trial phase: Preliminary Investigations Judge Lorenza Pasquinelli has ordered the case to be sent for trial and set the first hearing for January 20, 2027 , before the Eleventh Section of the Milan Court . The parties were present in court but did not make any statements, while the prosecution's position was formalized by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office.
The charges contested by the Prosecutor's Office and the evidence collected
According to Public Prosecutor Antonio Pansa, the indictment outlines a series of alleged stalking behaviors committed between and 2024. The investigation file includes over three thousand pages of transcripts, screenshots, and chats provided by Sophie Codegoni , which investigators believe constitute significant evidentiary support.
Among the incidents cited in the documents is an incident in Paris on September 27, 2024, during which a heated argument and disputed physical contact are reported. The material submitted to the Prosecutor's Office also contains strongly threatening statements, including the phrase " I'll come and kill you ."
Calls, messages and control
The order that closed the investigation emphasizes that the alleged behavior included constant monitoring via communications: according to the documents, Basciano allegedly made 50-60 calls a day , persistently making phone calls and video calls even when he received no response. The documents also include reports of abusive and threatening messages, including to the woman's friends, as well as incidents of stalking and increasingly violent insults, evidence that led the Prosecutor's Office to consider the alleged victim's version of events credible.
Procedural process: arrest, precautionary measures and revocations
The case had already undergone significant precautionary measures: in November 2024, Basciano was arrested on stalking charges, only to be released within 48 hours. The Prosecutor's Office subsequently appealed his release, and the Court of Review imposed a ban on approaching within 500 meters of the alleged victim; this measure was definitively upheld by the Court of Cassation in April 2025. Among the measures envisaged was the use of an electronic bracelet, but its implementation was delayed by logistical and procedural issues related to the availability of the devices and their operating procedures.
Bracelet revocation and intervention of the preliminary hearing judge
Last March , at the defense's request, preliminary hearing judge Lorenza Pasquinelli ordered the revocation of the mandatory electronic bracelet. The procedural decision that has now led to the indictment was made at a preliminary hearing in the presence of the parties' lawyers; neither Basciano nor Codegoni made direct statements at the conclusion of the hearing.
Defense, statements and expectations for the trial
Basciano's defense, represented by attorney Leonardo D'Erasmo, reiterated his client's innocence, maintaining that the relationship was conflictual but did not constitute stalking. At the end of the hearing, the lawyer stated, " The preliminary hearing judge Pasquinelli was very professional and compassionate, " and added, " We are convinced that the truth will emerge during the trial, where we will hear from all the witnesses ." In closing, he expressed hope, " I hope it doesn't turn into a media trial, " and expressed the hope that both parties can continue to find their own balance in their family and work lives.
Sophie Codegoni 's lawyers have not yet released any official statements. With the trial scheduled for January 20, 2027, the case will now move to the stage where witnesses will be called and the documentary evidence collected by the Prosecutor's Office will be evaluated.
