(Adnkronos) – The Italian government and the European Commission have reached an agreement on the measures envisaged by the Bollette decree, in full compliance with the Middle East State Aid Framework (METSAF) and sector regulations. The Prime Minister's office announced this in a statement.
The agreement follows "intense and constructive" discussions between the Commission services and the Italian authorities, with the aim of mitigating the impact of energy costs and limiting the effect of rising gas prices on electricity prices for households and businesses, while preserving a level playing field in the internal market by "minimizing distortions."
On this basis, Italy will notify the Commission of the temporary measures as required by State aid rules, and the EU executive will evaluate them "as a matter of priority."
