Lucrezia Ciotti Tragedy has struck Caravaggio, in the Bergamo province, where a 9-year-old boy died in a serious car accident. His mother, who was driving the car, and his 6-year-old brother were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Caravaggio: A car crashes on Via Masano, killing little Darek.
Dramatic accident late Wednesday afternoon in Caravaggio, in the Bergamo area , along Via Masano.
As reported by Prima Treviglio , 9-year-old Darek Szczesny lost his life after the car he was traveling in with his mother and 6-year-old brother went off the road. The crash occurred around 6:15-6:30 PM , while the family was returning home in the hamlet of Masano.
According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the car suddenly left the road near a slight bend, hitting and knocking over a pole before continuing for a few meters on the edge of the road and ending up in a ditch, where it overturned.
No other vehicles were involved and no skid marks were found on the asphalt.
This factor led to the possibility of the driver's illness being considered among the hypotheses to be verified . The driver was the children's mother, Federica C., 44, a teacher at a school in Treviglio.
The two children were both seated in the back seat, in their respective child seats.
Mother and little brother hospitalized in serious condition: investigation into the accident's dynamics
Another driver noticed the car off the road , immediately stopped, called 112, and attempted to provide assistance, following the emergency dispatcher's instructions. Three ambulances from the Treviglio Red Cross, a medical car, and a helicopter from Bergamo responded to the scene, but all attempts to save Darek were futile , and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The mother and her 6-year-old brother were extricated from the vehicle and transferred to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo , where they are in serious condition and with a critical prognosis. The Carabinieri of the Treviglio Company, along with the Highway Patrol and the Local Police, intervened to reconstruct the exact events.
The mayor of Caravaggio, Claudio Bolandrini , also arrived at the scene of the tragedy and expressed the city's condolences: "There are no words to express the pain of such a terrible tragedy. The community mourns little Darek, prays for his mother and little brother , and holds his father and relatives in a tight embrace . "
