Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – "Italian neurosurgery has a consolidated tradition and a strong position in the international and global arena. We are the world's fourth-largest producer of scientific research in neurosurgery. Our country's technologies are widely disseminated throughout the country." These are the words of Domenico d'Avella, president of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery (Sinch), at the seventy-fifth national congress underway in Catania.
"During the conference, 700 scientific papers will be presented in 95 sessions," explains d'Avella. "There will be a joint meeting with neurosurgeons from Latin America and ongoing discussions with 38 other international guests, who come from all over the world: from the United States to Norway, from Latin America to Switzerland, and from many other European and non-European countries."
D'Avella also takes the opportunity to clarify the public perception of the discipline: “Robotic surgery gets a lot of media attention, often presented in a superficial way, as if it were an extraordinary and isolated technological innovation.
In Italy, 70% of neurosurgeries nationwide practice it with ease. Our discipline in Italy has a solid foundation of knowledge, technical expertise, and widespread use of technology throughout the North, Center, and South of the country,” observes President Sinch.
"This is a message I want to convey not just out of pride in currently holding the presidency of the company, but also to raise awareness among citizens that, in this area of modern medicine, our country offers a high-quality healthcare service," he concludes.
