"We've reduced the leak detection area by 70%, thus optimizing the entire team effort." This is one of the innovations presented by Almaviva at Ecomondo by Fulvio Conti, head of the group's Business Unit for the agriculture, environment, water, and space markets. Among the innovations are a new data logger integrated into the Smart Water Management System platform and the evolution of rainwater management systems, essential for helping cities prevent flooding.
The group is also focusing on interaction with autonomous systems: quadruped robots capable of conducting preliminary surveys of dangerous areas, creating three-dimensional visualizations, and transmitting them to control rooms. But the technological leap, according to Conti, doesn't depend solely on new tools: "The real technological leap isn't adding a new sensor or a new satellite.
What is very important is the entire domain that we adopt and integrate with this technology." A combination of innovation and specialized skills, from hydraulic engineers to agronomists, is necessary to develop effective solutions.
