(Adnkronos) – "The time has come to put an end to pointless battles and build a merit agenda capable of responding to the real needs of the social and economic fabric." This was stated by Alessia Fachechi, head of the ministries of Meritocrazia Italia, at the 8th National Congress of Meritocrazia Italia currently underway in Rome, explaining the rationale for the national congress dedicated to the political agenda of merit.
"Last year, at the seventh national congress, we questioned the governance of merit: we want institutions composed of competent people, freely and consciously chosen by citizens, and capable of restoring merit to a society that has stopped believing in it. Hence the need to move from reflection to planning and a concrete vision," he states.
According to Fachechi, politics risks becoming trapped in emergency thinking, intervening only when it can achieve immediate results and abandoning structural reforms. "This impression is enough to make citizens lose confidence. That's why we've decided to roll up our sleeves and try to craft a proposal ourselves," he continues. The agenda identified by Meritocrazia Italia revolves around five key themes: equality, transparency, education, work, and the economy. These themes, he concludes, represent a summary of the issues that emerged from the discussions and will continue in the congressional debate.
