(Adnkronos) –
Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT union, is calling for "the broadest possible general mobilization" on November 5th, believing that "the strike must then take over." Sébastien Lecornu met with union members today, who came to demand political responses to their demands. At the end of the meeting, Sophie Binet expressed regret at the lack of concrete announcements.
"We came to seek concrete and immediate responses to social anger. The Prime Minister and the government have not announced any measures, nor have they taken any account of our demands," he said.
The union leader also noted that "social mobilization cannot be responded to with security measures and repression." Binet said she had asked the government to stop "despicing, trampling, and humiliating young people and workers" and had received a promise that youth organizations would be welcomed, but without a specific date.
"Every hour counts; they must be received immediately, otherwise the anger will continue to grow," he insisted. "The problem is not the anger being expressed, but the policies that provoke it."
