Never investigated, yet the shadows surrounding the Cappa family—always at the center of unstoppable social media hatred—surprisingly appear in the documents surrounding the closure of the investigation into Andrea Sempio, under investigation for the murder of Chiara Poggi. There's a 25-page report, reviewed by Adnkronos, complete with diagrams separating the known facts from the alleged new ones, concerning the twins Paola and Stefania Cappa and their parents.

As in a sort of bizarre Cluedo, the suspicion stems from the lack of questions about alibis until the observation that "no search, no inspection was ever carried out at the Cappa house, let alone on the bicycles in their possession".

Next to the name of each family member, the size of shoes worn or telephone traffic and movements of that August 13, 2007 are entered.

And then the various observations in bold, such as "Paola Cappa cannot provide an alibi to anyone, not to Stefania, nor to her mother." These unsigned notes also detail the bicycles owned by the family, the statements of some of the sisters' friends, and other unfounded suspicions: "Rosa Poggi and Stefania Cappa smoke," referring to the ashtray found on the kitchen table of the house on Via Pascoli in Garlasco.

And among the 'notes' there is another highlighted sentence: "On 13 February 2008 they seized Paola Cappa's leg brace: what checks did they do on the brace????".

And again: Ermanno Cappa's phone records "were requested from the wrong cell phone number, without ever forwarding the request to the correct number. The wiretaps began on August 22, a week after the murder." The writing gives way to written schemes (always computer-generated) in which known evidence against Andrea Sempio is mixed with elements reported on Le Iene (such as the interview with his mother) or deemed new, such as "he knew the Cappa twins," or "there is a defense expert report, never filed, that shows how the size of the killer's polka-dotted shoes cannot be precisely determined," "it would be interesting to view the video of the funeral" to see what shoes he was wearing or recover photos from the time (as was also done for the convicted Alberto Stasi), and again "he knew many of the young men who committed suicide in Garlasco."

From the suspect Sempio, this writer's attention shifts to the Cappa twins, who have never been investigated. Twin Paola is accused of referring to the "fireplace tool" as a weapon, the same device mentioned by an unreliable witness, but which no one has yet mentioned on television. Furthermore, Chiara Poggi's cousins knew the house, where the beach towels used by the killer were kept. Stefania Cappa "had the keys to the Poggi house, including the alarm key," and owned "a black women's bicycle that was never seen, much less seized." A black bicycle is the one seen by a witness on the morning of the crime, and it is one of the consistent elements in Stasi's 16-year prison sentence.

The author asks: "What if two weapons had been used at two different times?" There is also mention of a "partial bloody imprint from a shoe with a thick, diagonally ridged sole (an All-Star with a star?)", while the two chairs in the kitchen and the presence of two teaspoons in the sink "suggest that two people ate the fruit candies (found in the wastebasket) that morning". The document, among the documents filed with the Pavia Public Prosecutor's Office and available to the parties, notes the Stasi defense's failed attempts to retrieve satellite images from the morning of August 13, 2007, and to enlarge the photos of the four fingerprints on the victim's pajama top, which were lost when turning the lifeless body. The document states that Chiara "has no obvious defensive wounds", although it cannot be ruled out that she fought back against her attacker. The document also supports the convicted man by stating that, in addition to the fingerprints attributed to her boyfriend, "there was also DNA from various people on the dispenser in the bathroom".

Among the observations is a key point these days, which is listed as 'documents to be requested from the RIS', referring to the fact that "there are numerous exhibits" analyzed in the presence of the parties' consultants, "whose results (photos, tracings, analyses) were not included in the preliminary investigation file (and the defense's technical consultants had not requested them at the time)." The defense's requests for them in 2017 were unanswered (except for a few photos of the dispenser and doors) "because the authorization provided by the enforcement judge was not sufficient for Colonel Lago (who wanted express authorization)." Many of the exhibits, stored in Parma, "were destroyed in 2022 by order of the enforcement judge."
