(Adnkronos) – "It's a miracle I'm still alive. I only remember that it was a matter of a second, a very violent impact." These are the words of Lieutenant Colonel Flavio Favari, the third member of the Italian Red Cross Medevac team, the sole survivor of the team involved in last Thursday's accident in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where an Italian helicopter involved in Operation Eufor Althea crashed, killing four soldiers: two members of the Italian Red Cross Volunteer Military Corps and two sergeants serving with the Army Aviation Command.
In a statement, the Italian Red Cross explains that from the hospital in Tuzla, where he is being treated for fractures sustained in the crash, the medical officer recalled the dramatic moment of the crash. He then expressed his deep gratitude to the representatives of his sister organization, the Red Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, who visited him at the hospital, as well as to the Italian Red Cross's national president, Rosario Valastro, for his phone call and the constant support he has shown during these hours.
