(Adnkronos) – With the budget, the government redefines the criteria for salary increases for magistrates, lawyers, and state prosecutors, tying them to those of other public employees.

Article 67, explains the technical report of the Budget Bill, clarifies "certain criteria on the basis of which the National Institute of Statistics determines the percentage of salary increases for the aforementioned personnel in relation to the increases achieved by other categories of public employees."

An intervention that, it is noted, responds to the need to define "new legislative disciplines suitable for restoring the limits on overall spending".

In particular, it is clarified that "the average to be used for calculating the average increases achieved by the other categories of contracted public employees is the one weighted by the numerical size of each of the aforementioned categories.

The use of the weighted average is intended to avoid misrepresentations of the actual average per capita increase envisaged by the law that would arise from attributing the same weight to salaries referred to groups of different sizes".

It is also established that "in order to avoid duplication, arrears are not considered in the calculation basis as they are already reflected in the assessment of the salary increase recorded in the last year of the three-year reference period."

The provision will come into force once the budget law is published, in view of the adjustments starting from 2027.
