(Adnkronos) – "I've started treatment. The doctors say I have everything in place for a recovery." Alessandro Di Battista, fresh from brain tumor surgery about a month ago, answers Giovanni Floris's questions about his physical condition in the DiMartedì studio. "I've started treatment. I was afraid of the side effects," says Di Battista, who underwent emergency surgery in Cuba after being hospitalized for illness.
The tumor, the former MP explained last week, caused cerebral swelling. Surgery removed most of the mass. Treatment has now begun.
"When I wake up and don't feel very well, I remember I have the disease. When I lead a completely normal life, I never think I have a disease," says the former M5S parliamentarian.
"The doctors say I have everything in place for a recovery. It depends on the medications; I hope my body responds. Why shouldn't it? The latest tests are good, I can continue with the treatments. The type of tumor I have," Di Battista explains, "has molecular characteristics that make it vulnerable to treatment."
