(Adnkronos) – The internet is mourning the death of James Wehr, a 27-year-old influencer and car expert, who was involved in a tragic car accident last Sunday in Orange County, California. According to the reconstruction so far, the young man was driving his 2019 McLaren when he crashed into a tree.
The car caught fire shortly after the impact. When firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to put out the blaze, they pulled two lifeless bodies from the car.
One was the influencer, while the other's identity has not yet been officially revealed. Wehr, 27, was the co-founder of South OC Cars & Coffee, described on its website as "the largest weekly car meetup in the world."
And it was from here that the confirmation of the young man's death came. "Unfortunately, we have some very sad news to share with all of you. This morning, just after midnight, we lost our beloved son and brother James in a car accident," reads a post published on the South OC Cars & Coffee Instagram page.
A preliminary investigation into the crash determined that the McLaren stopped on Culver Drive at Deerfield Avenue northbound, the Irvine Police Department said, near a traffic light, then drove off at a “high rate of speed” when the light turned green.
Police believe the driver lost control of the vehicle before hitting a curb and a tree. The McLaren then "broke in half and caught fire."
