(Adnkronos) – A new chapter in the investigation into Lazio and the alleged "mastermind" behind the sale of the Biancoceleste club. The investigation by the Rome Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) (DESCRIBED HERE) alleges market manipulation of the capital club's shares, with searches also targeting manager Luigi Bisignani.
Bisignani himself was questioned today, Monday, September 28, by magistrates from the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the investigation into the alleged dissemination of "false news" that, according to investigators, could have altered the price of Lazio shares.
And Claudio Lotito's lawyer, Gian Michele Gentile, responded to his words.
Summary of the day. Bisignani, under investigation in the proceedings, appeared voluntarily before Public Prosecutor Lorenzo Del Giudice. As explained by his lawyer, Martina Pompei, Bisignani maintained that he never thought his articles could influence the stock market.
"My client, speaking to the prosecutor, stated that he never thought his articles could influence the stock market in the slightest," Pompei said. He also explained how Bisignani had offered to help Lazio and president Lotito. During the hearing, he later explained what he had already written in one of his articles, claiming that the Lazio president had previously rejected an offer from JP.
Morgan.
Attorney Gian Michele Gentile, representing Claudio Lotito, responded: "Regarding the statements made today to the public prosecutor by Mr. Bisignani, I would like to clarify that my client has never had any business or friendship relationship with him. The deal with JP Morgan to which Bisignani refers never existed: it is a complete fabrication."
