This year's event features, among the inevitable makers, many manufacturing companies made up of multinationals, structured businesses, and ambitious startups, as well as 26 secondary schools and 27 universities and research centers (with 145 projects submitted).
The event offers visitors three major thematic areas: innovation, creativity, and discovery. Within these areas, visitors will be able to admire and experience hundreds of projects across the board, ranging from digital manufacturing to the Internet of Things, robotics to artificial intelligence, the circular economy to agritech, design and aerospace, and the latest creative frontiers.
The event will also host a large Educational and Gaming area with a wide range of educational activities, lessons, and workshops for an even more engaging learning experience: the content is extensive, new, and always surprising.
The 2026 edition will feature an even richer, live main stage, which will tell many stories of innovation and feature special guests.
The area will be furnished with chairs and tables designed and manufactured by "Mediterranea," an innovative startup that produces eco-friendly interior design elements using 3D printers and recycled plastic. This year, in addition to the Gasometer area, the event will also take place in the spaces of the ISA (Istituto Superiore Antincendi), a valuable collaboration for which the organizers thank the entire National Fire Brigade Corps and the ISA.

For the thirteenth consecutive year, Eni has confirmed its role as the main partner of "Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition." This collaboration is further strengthened by the decision to host the event in the Eni spaces of the Gazometro in Rome Ostiense, a site of historical and industrial value that today is a symbol of transformation and innovation, thanks in part to the presence of Road – Rome Advanced District.
In the year marking the 100th anniversary of Agip's founding, Eni will be present with "Pioneers to Makers," a large interactive and immersive space dedicated to telling a story marked by the ongoing search for new solutions and the ability to envision the energy of the future. Installations, games, screenings, and virtual reality experiences will accompany visitors on this journey through history, technology, and innovation. It will also be possible to visit the Eni2050 Lab, a space dedicated to Eni's cutting-edge R&D technologies, from biofuels to CO₂ capture and storage, to new solutions for the production and storage of energy from renewable sources.
The Lazio Region renews its support for Maker Faire Rome, confirming its position as a key partner of the event. "Lazio," explains Roberta Angelilli, Vice President of the Lazio Region and Councilor for Economic Development, Trade, Crafts, Industry, and Internationalization, "is among the 50 most advanced regions in Europe for innovation investments and second in Italy for the number of innovative startups. Innovation is a cornerstone of the regional strategy and represents a key driver for the growth and competitiveness of our region. This is why we are investing in the research and development of advanced technologies in the strategic sectors of digital, biotech, aerospace, and energy transition, allocating, starting in October 2026, over €115 million for specific calls for proposals, also with the aim of strengthening the connection between universities, research, and the production system."
"At the same time," Angelilli continues, "we want to support our small and medium-sized businesses in international markets, strengthening their ability to compete and create new business opportunities. We do this through SME support vouchers, economic diplomacy missions, and an internationalization plan that also includes participation in Maker Faire. Lazio is participating in this important event with a qualified representation of businesses and startups, which will be able to expand opportunities for collaboration, exchange, and internationalization. This is a concrete way to enhance the skills and ideas emerging in our region and connect them with international markets and innovation ecosystems."
"And it's no coincidence," Angelilli concludes, "that this meeting is taking place at the Gazometro, a symbolic site of Rome's industrial transformation. The Gazometro will soon be home to a regional Open Innovation center for the Lazio Region, in collaboration with Lazio Innova, with international discussions dedicated to energy transition and high-tech sustainability. We want Lazio to be not just a region capable of generating innovation, but a place where innovation, business, and research meet, grow together, and create new opportunities for development and employment."
One of this year's most notable innovations is AvantCraft, the Maker Faire Rome exhibition dedicated to the intersection of artisanal know-how and advanced technologies. Through installations distributed across three thematic areas—the first dedicated to mobility and precision engineering, the second to new crafts including ceramics, glass, scagliola, and inlays, and the third to fashion, jewelry, and new biomaterials—AvantCraft showcases the work of Italian companies and master craftsmen who combine manual skills and materials with digital manufacturing, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
High-performance automobiles, titanium bicycles, 3D-printed ceramic sculptures, hand-set titanium jewelry, large-format embroidered fabrics, and biomaterials created from waste are just some of the objects that demonstrate, piece by piece, how Made in Italy is reinventing its manufacturing identity.
The project's scientific curatorship is Stefano Micelli, professor of Economics and Business Management at Ca' Foscari University of Venice and one of Italy's leading scholars of the transformation of contemporary craftsmanship. Author of landmark volumes such as "Futuro artigiano" (Marsilio), "Fare è innovare" (Il Mulino), and "Il nuovo lavoro artigiano" (Il Mulino), he oversaw the selection of companies and the curatorial narrative of AvantCraft, built around the idea that Italian innovation arises from the dialogue, not the substitution, between hand and machine.
