(Adnkronos) –
The world's padel elite is ready to return to Milan. From October 12th to 18th, the Allianz Cloud will shine the spotlight on the fifth edition of the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1, a tournament that will draw the biggest names on the international circuit and thousands of fans. After attracting over 35 spectators last year, the Lombardy capital confirms its position as a key stop on the world calendar, a symbol of the sport's extraordinary growth.

The tournament will build on the triumphs of Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan among the men and Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria among the women (this year, the two Spaniards play with Andrea Ustero and Bea Gonzalez, respectively). The tournament will be held in Lombardy, a region where the number of courts has grown by 180% since 2021, with padel in Italy reaching 1.5 million players and surpassing 10,000 courts.

The event is also made possible thanks to the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, through the contribution of the Department of Sport, with the contribution of the Lombardy Region and the patronage of the Municipality of Milan.

“When padel comes to Milan, the atmosphere changes, because this is perhaps the event we wanted most,” explained Sports Councillor Martina Riva in the presentation held this morning at the Palazzina Appiani in the Arena Civica.

We fell in love with it in Rome in 2022, with the Allianz Cloud being the element that makes this stage of Premier Padel great."

“The atmosphere in the arena, with the great enthusiasm of the crowd, the plays of light, and the exploits of great players, both male and female, perfectly reflects the dimension of padel at the highest level in all its aspects,” continued the president of the International Padel Federation, Luigi Carraro.

"Lombardy confirms its position as the national driving force of padel," emphasized Federica Picchi, Undersecretary of Youth and Sport for the Region, "with numbers that make us proud because we are reaping the fruits of our labor." "We must show players and spectators that we can compete with Milan by creating something new every year," concluded Marco Gamberale, CEO of NSA Group, the event's organizer.

Among the new features is the NBA-style ring reserved for the tournament winners, broadcast in Italy by Sky Sport, Supertennis, and RedBull TV. Numerous Italians, competing in the World Championships in Doha in early November, will also be competing: among the men, Flavio Abbate (paired with Spaniard Alonso Rodriguez) and Alvaro Montiel (with Dani Santigosa), while among the women, Giulia Dal Pozzo (with Nuria Rodriguez) and Carolina Orsi (with Patty Llaguno) are in the draw. Tickets are on sale at Ticketone, with free tickets from Monday the 12th to Wednesday the 14th for National Youth Card holders and students under 18.
