(Adnkronos) – Jorge Martin's Malaysian Grand Prix weekend has ended prematurely. The Spanish rider, still struggling with problems with his injured arm, has chosen not to continue the Sepang weekend, also missing the qualifying session after already missing pre-qualifying on Friday.
A decision made after carefully evaluating his physical condition during the second free practice sessions.
Martin tried to grit his teeth, but the difficulties he encountered while riding convinced him not to take any further risks. The Spaniard himself explained the reasons for his decision to Sky Sport: "I tried, I gave it my all. I waited until today to make a decision, but I wasn't riding effectively.
I decided to stop; it was a risk for me, I didn't have 100% control over what was happening on the bike. I preferred to rest, I'll gain a day of recovery for Qatar. The World Championship is obviously moving away, but I'm honestly not thinking about it now. I'll definitely try until the end."
For Martin, therefore, the priority now becomes physical recovery in view of the next event on the calendar.
Cancelling the Malaysian GP inevitably represents a hard blow also in terms of the championship, with the title race becoming even more complicated.
