Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – 'My New World', the documentary film written and directed by Donatella Romani and Roberto Amato and produced by Telomero Produzioni with the unconditional contribution of Chiesi Italia, was presented on September 11 at the Venice Lido, during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and the 'Venezia26' series of the Giffoni Innovation Hub.
Divided into six chapters and narrated by actress Roberta Garzia, the documentary interweaves the experiences of people living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe asthma, Fabry disease, and epidermolysis bullosa. Their testimonies are complemented by those of caregivers, clinicians, and patient associations, creating a collaborative narrative centered on the individual, their relationships, and the treatment journey.
The screening was followed by a round table discussion divided into two panels dedicated to respiratory pathologies and rare diseases, with the participation of clinicians and representatives of patient associations.
The discussion, which included a speech by Raffaello Innocenti, CEO & Managing Director of Chiesi Italia, explored the value of storytelling as a tool for making people's experiences more visible and strengthening dialogue between patients, caregivers, clinicians, and associations, fostering a greater understanding of the illness experience.
After its official presentation at the Chamber of Deputies last fall, the statement continues, 'My New World' arrives at the Venice Film Festival, confirming how the language of cinema can help engage the general public on the themes of illness, treatment, and inclusion.
The initiative is part of Chiesi Italia's commitment to promoting a culture of health based on listening and collaboration among healthcare system stakeholders, recognizing the value of patients' and their families' experiences as an integral part of care.
"My new world was born from the desire to give voice to the experiences of people living with respiratory and rare diseases, placing their daily experiences at the center," says Innocenti.
