(Adnkronos) – October weather: High pressure dominates Italy for another six days, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching 28-29°C, about 4°C above the seasonal average. The start of the month is marked by the consolidation of the October high pressure system across much of central and southern Italy and the Northeast.

Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist and media manager at iLMeteo.it, points out that the term "Ottobrata" refers to the early autumn period characterized by atmospheric stability, a lack of wind, and temperatures above the climatic norm: in the peninsula, daytime highs of up to 28-29°C will be recorded, about 4°C above the seasonal average.

In Europe, a disturbed system positioned over France and the Gulf of Lion will favor the transit of cloud clusters towards the western edge of the Peninsula.

This configuration will cause showers in the western Alps, light drizzle in the western Po Valley and isolated showers in Sardinia and Tuscany.

On Friday, large clearings will prevail in the central and southern regions, while in the north and in the inland areas of Sardinia, temporary cloud cover will be observed with weak phenomena mainly confined to the mountains.

During the first weekend of October, the Omega blocking structure will still affect the European picture with two low-pressure areas, one off the coast of Portugal and one over Crete.

Italy will remain affected by the anticyclonic area between these two low pressure systems, with stable conditions and predominantly sunny weather.

Model simulations indicate a further delay in the entry of the Atlantic flow, currently assumed for between Thursday and Friday of next week, when the formation of a low pressure system over the Tyrrhenian Sea could lead to widespread rainfall and a general drop in temperatures.

The long-term evolution will require further verification in future model updates.

IN DETAIL

Thursday 1: In the North: Clouds and light rain in the Western Alps; sunny in the North-East.

Central Italy: Sunny, except for isolated unsettled weather in Tuscany. South and islands: Stable and sunny, except for occasional showers in inland Sardinia.

Friday the 2nd: In the North: Variable cloud cover with isolated showers in the mountains. In the Center, South, and Islands: Stable and sunny weather, except for isolated showers in the interior of Sardinia.

Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th: Mostly stable and sunny weather across much of Italy. High temperatures above seasonal averages.

Trend: possible collapse of the high pressure system between Thursday 8th and Friday 9th due to the formation of a Tyrrhenian depression, with widespread rain and a drop in temperatures.
