The Pope will not have to undergo immunotherapy. Vatican sources have announced this, denying speculation that has been circulating in recent hours. In their latest medical bulletin last Friday, doctors Luigi Carbone and Stefano Margaritora reported that, "as scheduled, the Holy Father underwent a follow-up chest X-ray. The examination confirmed the excellent progress of his post-operative recovery."
The final histological examinations and molecular biology tests on the material removed during the Leone XIV surgery at Gemelli Hospital to remove a tumor from the right lung also confirmed that "the disease was localized. A subsequent oncological evaluation confirmed that no further therapy was necessary."
The Pope, "to aid his recovery following thoracic surgery last Tuesday, following doctors' advice, will not be present in Assisi on October 27 for the meeting 'Disarmed and Disarming Peace,' on the 40th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace, convened by Saint John Paul II," the Vatican announced in the meantime.
"I assure you of my prayers for those killed and injured last Friday in the terrorist attack against the faithful of the Orthodox Church of St. George in Hmoud, Jordan. I am close to that community and to the entire country, which stands out for its peaceful coexistence and respect between different religions. Let us continue to pray together for peace," he added.
