(Adnkronos) – "None of us has ever called for Sigfrido's dismissal, nor have we ever called for his removal." This is what the Report team said in a statement, following the decision of the Rome Labor Court rejecting Sigfrido Ranucci's urgent appeal against his removal from the host of the Rai3 investigative program.
“Report does not take orders from politicians,” add the programme’s journalists.
"The Rome Court's ruling brings to a close a matter that has been painful for all of us. In recent months, the narrative of a divided editorial staff, divided between traitors and collaborators, has been fueled. This is not the case," they continue. "We will respond to the controversy as we always have: with investigations."
“Already in June, before the Lavitola scandal,” the Report team underlines in a note, “the group of correspondents had proposed appointing two co-authors to manage the program alongside Sigfrido.
The proposal, however, was not followed up. Then in July, the entire team put forward a new proposal that included two co-authors alongside him and coordination of the editorial staff and correspondents. We discussed it and voted on it in the assembly, openly, almost unanimously. The goal was one: not to leave him alone in the most difficult moment and to put the team first, to protect the program.
“That proposal,” the program team continues, “was not accepted and perhaps was not understood.
But none of us ever called for Sigfrido's dismissal. The management decisions were made by the company, and we fought to ensure the autonomy and independence of our work were not threatened. Report does not take orders from politicians, neither from those who have asked for its change nor from those who defend it. Report is not influenced by more or less powerful forces nor by interest groups. It has always been a collective effort and will continue to be so. We will respond to controversies as we always have: with investigations,” concludes the Rai3 program team.
