(Adnkronos) –
Sarah Ferguson appeared in public for the first time in months, accompanied by her daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. The former Duchess of York, who has stayed away from the spotlight due to the Epstein scandal, which implicated her after revealing her close friendship with the pedophile who committed suicide in prison, did not shy away from photographers upon her arrival yesterday at St. Paul's Church in London.

Fergie, who was last photographed in an Austrian chalet earlier this year, was spotted while attending a memorial service in Knightsbridge for her ex-boyfriend Paddy McNally, months after his funeral in July, which Sarah did not attend. The Duchess appeared slightly nervous as she entered the church, reports the Express, but smiled for photographers nonetheless.

Her daughters Eugenie and Beatrice, along with their husbands, were at their mother's side.

Eugenie and Beatrice's appearance with Sarah may surprise many, the tabloid notes, after rumors suggested they were trying to avoid any public appearances that might implicate them in controversies regarding their parents. It's also believed their relationship as sisters has strained in recent months.

Yesterday's release also comes just weeks after it was revealed that the sisters had been making secret visits to their mother's new rented home in the Home Counties. Sarah had previously been abroad, likely to avoid the spotlight. The former duchess had a relationship with McNally before meeting Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The two met after Fergie was assigned to care for McNally's young sons, Sean and Rollo, following the death of his wife, Anne, in 1980.

The friendship between McNally and the former duchess has remained deep, so much so that the Formula One hospitality manager allowed Sarah to use his homes in Switzerland and the south of France over the past year, allowing her to keep a low profile. The former driver is also believed to have left his debt-ridden ex-girlfriend a large portion of his large inheritance.
