(Adnkronos) – Egyptian security authorities are investigating a video circulating online showing scenes from a pornographic film projected on a giant screen along a road in the Giza governorate, southeast of Cairo.

Egyptian media reported that pedestrians and motorists were shocked to see the pornographic video projected on one of the large roadside advertising screens.

A security source explained that the relevant authorities are currently examining the released video to verify its authenticity and identify those responsible for projecting it on the screen located on the side leading to Sheikh Zayed City.

The source also confirmed that authorities are working to determine the reasons for the dissemination of this content, whether it was a deliberate cyberattack by unknown parties or other technical causes, in order to take the necessary legal action.

For its part, the company responsible released an official statement explaining that an unauthorized intrusion into one of its advertising screens was detected and that an investigation into the incident is underway in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The company added that the screen was immediately turned off as a precaution pending the completion of the investigation and implementation of the necessary procedures.

It also underlined its commitment to upholding the highest safety and operational standards to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

Some news sites claim that it was a cross-border cyber attack that hit an international company specializing in the electronic transmission of commercials over the Internet, with which the local advertising agency has a contract.
