Tajani calls for police reinforcements in Milan following the clashes.

Tajani calls for more police and new laws for minors in Milan following recent incidents of violence.

This afternoon, the Lombardy capital was once again the scene of violent incidents affecting both the city center and the outskirts, with looting, damage to businesses, and clashes between groups. Undersecretary of Defense Matteo Perego provided a live report, confirming the scale of the attacks and the need for rapid intervention by the authorities.

Faced with this emergency, National Secretary Antonio Tajani called an extraordinary meeting of Forza Italia leaders at its Milan headquarters. The meeting was attended by regional representatives, urban security experts, and local policymakers, with the aim of defining the lines of intervention to request from the state.

Decisions taken at the meeting led by Tajani

During the assembly, Tajani emphasized the urgent need to strengthen the police presence on the ground. The party called for the immediate deployment of additional police units and the armed forces already involved in security management, to ensure a comprehensive emergency response. Furthermore, the Safe Streets program's resources were requested to be strengthened to provide the most affected areas with continuous surveillance and rapid response vehicles.

Operational requests: more police, armed forces and Safe Streets

Forza Italia has insisted that authorities provide law enforcement with the necessary legislative tools to arrest minors involved in acts of destruction and looting. The party has called for simplification of arrest procedures for young people, particularly for the most serious cases, and has urged expediting the legislative process to make minors between the ages of 14 and 17 more easily prosecutable. The goal is twofold: to ensure an effective response on the ground and to send a clear signal of deterrence.

Regulatory tools for minors involved

The legislative proposals include revising the Criminal Code regarding juvenile liability, with the aim of extending the types of crimes that can be prosecuted to young people between the ages of 14 and 17, especially in situations of devastation and looting . Furthermore, it has been suggested that law enforcement agencies be equipped with specific operational protocols for interventions with minors, providing, for example, for the use of educational alternatives to detention, but with a greater capacity for prosecution in the event of repeat offenders.

Invitation to the Council of Ministers to intervene in Milan

As a gesture of presence and solidarity, Forza Italia has proposed convening the Council of Ministers in the Lombardy city. Such a meeting, according to the party, would send a strong signal of solidarity to the residents and businesses unjustly affected by the violence. The presence of ministers at the local level should foster more effective coordination between national institutions and municipal administrations, expediting the implementation of the requested measures and providing concrete support to the most affected areas.
