Rome, October 30 (askanews) – "Sky-high prices for buyers, crumbs for producers" reads a sign on one of the tractors that paraded through the streets of Rome's Porta Pia area, during the protest organized by USB and other grassroots unions in several cities on the day of the general strike. A large police force was deployed in front of the Ministry of Transport on Via Nomentana, where the march stopped. "We farmers are protesting against excessive production costs," said some who stopped their vehicles right in front of the Ministry.
