Walter Avallone murder: a room at a B&B in Vibonati seized
As reported by Tgr Campania , investigations continue into the death of Walter Avallone, a 55-year-old night watchman originally from Eboli , found lifeless inside his white Ford B-Max in a parking lot near the Trentova bay, in Agropoli, in the Salerno area.
The body was in the driver's seat and had a serious throat wound , caused by a gunshot and not a knife , as initially assumed. The gun was not found, and the investigation confirmed the homicide hypothesis. The body was discovered by an off-duty Carabinieri officer who, while running, noticed the man slumped in the passenger compartment and raised the alarm.
Officers from the Agropoli Station, the Operations and Mobile Unit, and forensic investigation specialists from Salerno responded to the scene and conducted surveys. The Vallo della Lucania Public Prosecutor's Office is coordinating the investigation to clarify the crime and reconstruct the victim's last movements. Her death may have occurred sometime between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. on the morning of October 14th.
Avallone, separated and the father of two daughters, had worked primarily in the Eboli area and, in recent months, had been serving as a freight train guard at the Sapri train station. A new element has been added to the investigation: Carabinieri from the Agropoli Company have seized a room in a bed and breakfast on Corso Umberto I, in Vibonati, rented by Avallone. The room served as a base for the guard, who apparently chose this solution to avoid constant travel from the Sele Plain. Investigators are investigating whether the accommodation was also used by another person and whether it might yield useful information about the victim's acquaintances.
Walter Avallone Murder: Cameras Capture Man and Victim
According to TGR Campania , surveillance camera footage is particularly important , as it appears to have allowed the reconstruction of the moments leading up to the murder : Avallone apparently arrived in Agropoli with a man , with whom he reached the parking lot near the Trentova nature reserve. After stopping, the passenger allegedly shot the 55-year-old in the throat, then retrieved two bags from the trunk and walked away toward the overlook. Investigators are now working to identify the alleged perpetrator, verify the contents of the bags, and determine the connection between the two.
Both the weapon used to kill Avallone and his cell phone remain to be found . The autopsy, scheduled for next Tuesday , could provide further information to clarify the circumstances of his death. The 55-year-old, with no criminal record, was separated and the father of two daughters.
