Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – Iran is threatening to strike Europe, including Italy, if the United States uses its military bases in European countries to conduct an attack on Tehran. "If America uses its bases in Europe, including those in Italy and Germany, Iranian missiles will be launched toward Europe," said Ahmad Bakhshayesh Ardestani, an Iranian lawmaker and member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, in an interview with Euronews.
“We didn't do this in the two previous wars, but this time we will not allow Europe's assistance to America in an attack on Iran to go unrewarded,” Ardestani added, specifying that Tehran would target any base used against the country, as well as the “tangible and intangible assets” of the states supporting Washington.
The statement comes in the aftermath of Donald Trump's defeat in the
US midterm elections
, a result that according to Vice President Vance would have depended precisely on the war in Iran.
Vance's analysis was based on a pollster he called "one of the most knowledgeable people I know in politics," who had predicted, the day before the election, a 13-point Republican defeat in congressional voting intentions. A prediction that, the vice president admitted, surprised him, despite his pessimism the day before.
The same pollster's findings showed that many Trump voters, disappointed and angry, were intent on voting Democrat in 2024. When asked what would convince them to return to Republican support, they cited four priorities: "End the war, focus on the cost of living and inflation, put America first, and change the relationship with Israel."
