(Adnkronos) – "The contribution of the social projects we carry out across Italy with the Snam Foundation is, above all, a source of pride. The Snam Foundation is Snam's operational arm in social work." This was stated by Alessandro Zehentner, Chairman of Snam and the Snam Foundation, in Rome today at the event organized by Snam at the Auditorium Parco della Musica to celebrate its 85th anniversary.
Present, in addition to the company's top management, were the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi.
“Our guidelines are different,” Zehentner continues, “starting with helping drug addiction recovery communities.
The kids leave a community and can begin studying, as we fund courses that provide them with a professional certificate in the landscaping sector. Immediately afterward, they enter the world of work. We help multiple communities simultaneously, and I personally visit them at least once a month."
Then again. “Another important activity is aimed at children and adolescents.
We're currently welcoming children from the Ukrainian front into Italy, many of them orphans. We're allowing them to stay in our country, in agreement with the Ukrainian embassy. A third activity I'm very proud of is a new one, but one we're moving forward with speed: the planting of land seized from the mafia in Corleone. Imagine, where there was a scree, where the Lupara Bianca area used to be, there will soon be an avocado and olive grove. There'll even be a small lake, which we'll be building in the next few days.
But that's not all. "I'm pushing to convince other large Italian companies to adopt additional hectares. My dream is this: in a year or two, to fly a drone over that valley, which was once a valley of stones, and rediscover a little Eden, with the fruits of this labor donated directly to the young people who helped make it happen." Finally: "In Rome, we're helping communities that care for abused women, young mothers who have suffered violence. We're currently supporting several communities, starting with the 'Salvamamme' association, which is present in the capital."
President Zehentner returns to the topic of "inclusive greenery" and emphasizes: "The fully recovered young people, and there are many who want to get back to living the life they deserve, are first selected within the communities. I personally go to speak with them, after which we give them the opportunity to obtain a professional certificate in the greenery sector. For them, as well as for their families, it is a great satisfaction, and once they complete this training program, which is also paid, they will begin working as gardeners.
"Already right now," Zehentner concludes, "there are many young people working and many more studying. My greatest satisfaction is seeing the young men and women who have graduated from our program mentor others who are joining the community. This is a source of enormous satisfaction for me."
