(Adnkronos) –
Alessandro Di Battista "can't wait to resume his battles and is coping as best he can with the post-surgery phase," according to a post published overnight by his association 'Schierarsi'. "He was operated on in Havana by Cuban doctors," the post continues. "We wish to thank them wholeheartedly for their extraordinary work, for their professionalism, and for the dedication with which they addressed an extremely delicate situation, once again confirming the excellence of Cuban healthcare."
This is the latest news on the former M5S parliamentarian following the operation performed in recent days following the illness the 48-year-old suffered in Cuba on August 28th.
“A special thanks goes to the Neurosurgery Department of the Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Hermanos Ameijeiras, who cared for Alessandro during these difficult days.
Sincere thanks go to the Italian authorities, the Farnesina Crisis Unit, and, in particular, to Ambassador Simona De Martino, who followed and managed every phase of this delicate moment for Alessandro and his family with great care and sensitivity. We also wish to thank the Cuban authorities for their attention and support throughout this entire affair.
Finally, we reiterate the need to maintain the utmost caution in disseminating information,” he concludes.
Di Battista was scheduled to return to Italy last Friday, as the 48-year-old himself announced in a post in which he said he was feeling better. However, his condition worsened, the flight was canceled, and the former Five Star Movement MP underwent surgery.
