Biomethane, Forattini (PD): A concrete opportunity for farmers

Rome, October 31 (askanews) – According to Antonella Forattini (PD-IDP Group Leader in the 13th Agriculture Committee of the Chamber of Deputies), "Biomethane is a concrete opportunity for our farmers, especially in a period marked by increasingly difficult-to-sustain energy costs. Investing in renewable energy production means strengthening the competitiveness of agricultural businesses, enhancing local resources, and contributing to the energy transition.

This opportunity, however, must be accompanied by clear rules and rigorous planning. Plants cannot be speculative or built without careful assessment of their impact on the local area. Responsible, sustainable investments are needed that are consistent with the needs of local communities. It is therefore essential to involve all institutions, starting with local authorities, who understand the characteristics of the territories and must participate in decision-making.

Particular attention must be paid to road infrastructure: its adequacy is essential to ensure the sustainability of the facilities, reduce the impact on mobility, and protect the quality of life of citizens." Forattini spoke at the meeting "Biomethane: innovation, sustainability, and safety of new field refueling systems," which took place at the Palazzo Rospigliosi Congress Center, the national headquarters of Coldiretti.

Promoted by the UniVerde Foundation, Coldiretti, CIB – Consorzio Italiano Biogas, and EBA – European Biogas Association, the initiative brought together representatives of institutions, major parliamentary groups, research, and businesses.
