Solitude as an experience of fullness, Benni Bosetto in Florence

Florence, October 23 (askanews) – IED Florence and the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi presented "The Ballad of the Blue Kind" by artist Benni Bosetto, a new project conceived specifically for the two venues, comprising an exhibition at IED's exhibition spaces and two days of performances at Palazzo Strozzi's Strozzina. "The Ballad of the Blue Kind" explores the possible facets of solitude, told in two complementary moments where presence and absence, sound and silence, alternate.

In the Strozzina spaces, five characters sing variations on a theme, recounting intertwined solitudes. Meanwhile, in the former Teatro dell'Oriuolo, drawing becomes a sculptural object, capturing the memory of bodies and their stories, forming a large-scale installation. The experience of performance space finds a new dimension in IED's scenic contemplation space, where the audience encounters a dimension of individual observation.

The Ballad of the Blue Kind explores loneliness as a constantly shifting emotional state, spanning the different stages of life and bringing with it both drama and lightheartedness. Often seen as a form of separation from the world, solitude is here approached as an experience capable of also bringing forth moments of fulfillment and awareness.

The five characters, originating from the intertwining of literary and artistic topoi, and stereotypes of different solitudes, constitute the starting point from which the artist has developed songs, drawings, music, and scenography, and give shape to the project in the two exhibition spaces.
