(Adnkronos) – "With the prospect of new therapies, there's a need for integration between the community and treatment centers, which Rapid has clearly highlighted. Patients and families have comprehensive needs because they have been neglected in recent years. The needs are many: for services, for equal access to services, to diagnosis, and to treatment."
Patients and caregivers "need to find a care network worthy of the name, which is uniform across the entire national territory." This was stated by Patrizia Spadin, president of Aima-Italian Alzheimer's Disease Association, commenting on the publication of the consensus document of the RAPID project (Revolutionizing Alzheimer's Patient care model.
Initiatives Driving the future) created with the support of Eisai Italia and the methodological coordination of Iqvia.
"Rapid is needed to deploy all the expertise needed for both early and timely diagnosis, as well as for those with full-blown symptoms," explains Spadin. "The landscape is divided into two groups of patients: those who have the disease today and whose condition will worsen over time, and those who will have the disease tomorrow and who need highly advanced expertise to identify the signs of the disease and provide them with access to treatments not yet available to us today."
