Matteo Berrettini makes his debut at the 2026 Italian Open. Today, Thursday, May 7, the Italian tennis player faces Australian Alexei Popyrin – live on TV and streaming – in the first round of the Rome Masters 1000. Berrettini is coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the Cagliari Challenger, after losing in the first round to Prizmic in Madrid. 

 

The match between Berrettini and Popyrin is scheduled for today, Thursday, May 7, at 11 a.m. on the Centre Court of the Foro Italico.

The two players have met in five previous matches, with the Italian holding a commanding 4-1 lead. In their last meeting, Berrettini emerged victorious, defeating Popyrin in straight sets in the first round of the 2025 ATP Vienna Tournament. 

 

Berrettini-Popyrin will be broadcast live on SkySport.

The match will also be available to stream on the SkyGo app and on NOW.
