Edward Marchesi Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared his willingness to attend the G20 summit in Miami in December, provided Russian President Vladimir Putin is also present. A meeting between the two leaders could be a crucial step in trying to resolve the ongoing conflict.
Zelensky stressed that what matters are concrete results, not words.
“It's not a question of words. What I say to him or what he wants to say to me doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. What matters are the results. That's all,” he said in an interview with Deutsche Welle.
The Kremlin's call: Moscow or nothing
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated that the invitation to a meeting between Putin and Zelensky remains valid, but only in Moscow.
"If he really wants to meet Putin, he can come to Moscow, as Putin himself has previously stated," Peskov said. So far, the Kremlin has not confirmed Putin's participation in the G20 in Miami.
Russian attacks in Ukraine: the latest news
Overnight, Russian troops hit two merchant ships in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Chornomorsk.
The attacks also involved steelworks in Zaporizhia , a plant in Dnipro and several factories in Kryvyi Rih.
At least three people were killed in the attacks. In Zaporizhia , a woman and a man were killed in a drone strike, while a residential area was hit and at least one other person was injured. In Odessa , on the Black Sea, at least 17 people were injured, including a five-month-old baby. In Kryvyi Rih , in southeastern Ukraine, one person was killed in an attack on a factory.
Zelensky's statements on the attacks
Zelensky stressed the importance of long-range operations against targets on Russian soil. “The war must come to Russia’s homeland. This is important,” he said in a post on X. According to Zelensky, these operations serve to make Russia feel the effects of the war every day.
Over the past 24 hours, two chemical plants in Russia's Perm and Samara regions and a target in the Black Sea have been hit . In Taganrog , Ukrainian special forces struck an FPV drone production plant, drone depots, an oil tank, a radar station, and a Pantsir-S2 system.
Putin's statements: Russia does not threaten Europe
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia does not threaten European countries and has no reason to enter into conflict with them. "Russia does not threaten any European country, and we have no reason for a conflict with them," Putin said in New Delhi.
Putin accused European states of provoking a potential clash with Moscow. "Do they want to revisit the results of World War II? What are they pushing the people of their countries to do? To a war with the Russian Federation?" he added.
According to Putin, the AfD 's strong showing in the recent regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt also reflects the insecurity of European citizens, caused by Western policies that are pushing them towards a conflict with Russia.
