Marc Marquez closed the gap at the top of the MotoGP riders' standings with his victory in the sprint race at Misano today, Saturday, September 12. The Spaniard, starting from second on the grid, immediately took the lead in the short race and never relinquished the lead, crossing the finish line ahead of the two Aprilias of Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin.
This win puts the Spanish champion within just 14 points of World Championship leader Martin. Bezzecchi trails 22 points behind. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth, while Alex Marquez finished fifth ahead of Pedro Acosta. It was a day to forget for Bagnaia, who finished thirteenth. The long race is tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
