(Adnkronos) – The National Cardiology Congress of the ANMCO, the Italian National Association of Cardiologists, opens Thursday in Rimini. For over 50 years, the event has been one of the most anticipated cultural gatherings for the vast world of clinical cardiology. Over the three days, the most recent and significant clinical, scientific, and organizational developments in our country's cardiologists will be presented.

This year, over 4000 hospital cardiologists gathered to discuss all the major issues of prevention, treatment, and research, as well as the latest developments in cardiovascular clinical practice. This year's Congress will focus on the theme 'Add Years to Life and Life to Years,' an invitation to explore how cutting-edge research can translate into concrete clinical solutions to improve daily practice, not only to live longer but, above all, to live better.

Cardiologists, researchers, young trainees, and institutional figures will meet to share experiences, discuss new scientific evidence, and jointly map out the future of hospital cardiology to prevent cardiovascular diseases, identify them earlier, and treat them more effectively," the ANMCO statement emphasizes.

The 2026 ANMCO Congress will be a moment of openness to the challenges of modern cardiology: from optimizing diagnostic pathways to new pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options, from an evidence-based medicine perspective and with a constant focus on scientific innovation.

A unique opportunity for discussion, exchange, and collaborative development. The International Version Congress will take place again this year: an entire section of the program will be dedicated to English-language sessions, led by a prestigious international faculty. This is a unique opportunity for professional development, with contributions from major international cardiology societies, such as the American Heart Association (AHA), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

The proceedings can also be followed online-only, accessible via the multimedia platform digital.anmco.it, which in recent years has become an integral part of the Congress and allows for optimal access to all content. The new frontier in medical education will also be represented by the innovative Ai Anmco Intelligence system, a virtual co-moderator capable of stimulating scientific debate by generating questions and discussion points in real time. According to Massimo Grimaldi, President of the National Association of Cardiology (ANMCO) and Director of Cardiology at the F. Miulli Hospital in Acquaviva delle Fonti (Bari), "The ANMCO conference once again represents a unique opportunity to meet, discuss, and grow together. The goal is twofold: to continue to ensure the best possible care for our patients and, at the same time, to look ahead, recognizing that today's cardiologists must not only treat disease but also impact the quality and length of life of Italians. To achieve this goal, it is essential not only to ensure the most appropriate therapies from the earliest stages of the disease, but also to promote healthy lifestyles and the management of modifiable risk factors, in order to strengthen cardiovascular prevention in Italy."

"During the Congress," Grimaldi continues, "we will present the first Recommendations on Good Clinical and Care Practice for acute coronary syndromes, developed at the request of the Italian National Institute of Health. Over the three days, we will also illustrate the results of important clinical studies on topics of significant public health relevance, from heart attacks to heart failure, which will certainly contribute to improving clinical practice in the cardiovascular field."

"Great attention," Grimaldi concludes, "will be paid to young people, the future of our Association: theoretical and practical training on the many simulators available, clinical research, and active involvement will be at the heart of our work. We are aware of the responsibility that every cardiologist carries, and Anmco intends to enhance this role by supporting research, spreading culture, and strengthening the leadership of hospital cardiology within our National Health Service."
