Adnkronos (Adnkronos) – "In these times of crisis, the bond between the United States and Italy remains crucial. Together, we must continue to defend freedom and democracy." This was Giorgia Meloni's statement in a video message at the gala celebrating the 51st anniversary of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF). "This year is particularly significant: as the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, we also celebrate the profound contribution that Italians and Italian-Americans have made to the founding, growth, and success of this great nation, starting with Filippo Mazzei and his influence on Thomas Jefferson," the Prime Minister stated in her opening remarks.
“The story of Italian Americans is the story of America itself: a nation shaped by courage, sacrifice, and the constant hope that a better life is possible beyond the horizon,” Meloni continued, emphasizing that “for over five decades, NIAF has been an essential bridge between Italy and the United States, a bridge built on a shared history, family ties, culture, and common values.”
The Prime Minister concluded by thanking NIAF for “their generous commitment to the Italian-American community: thank you for keeping our culture alive with pride, resilience, and generosity.”
