Philip Imundi The flooding in Nepal has shocked the world and our country, too, as many of our fellow citizens have witnessed it firsthand and, unfortunately, been affected. The situation has now improved significantly since the beginning of the week, as survivors have been able to begin moving back to their home countries.
Nepal, the Farnesina's constant commitment
Following the floods in Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is continuing its efforts to locate any Italians still present in the country who have not been heard from in days.
In addition to the telephone number for reporting, the focus is on the commitment our country is making to bring home all the people who were at the center of the event.
Meanwhile, the number of missing continues to rise and as of today, August 29, has reached 2.400 people . A crisis unit has also arrived on the scene, having landed in Kathmandu yesterday.
The two compatriots have returned to Italy, three others are still missing.
As regards people originally from our country, it should be noted, as reported by Leggo.it , that Fassini , a 42-year-old originally from Brescia, an accountant by profession , and Lombardi , a 26-year-old pastry chef from the same region, will return to Italy today.
There is no news of the other Italians; the missing people are Marco Ratto , a goldsmith from Rapallo , and an Italian-Swiss couple who were travelling towards Nepal.
Meanwhile, two other Italians, Valentina Piccinini and Stefano Lotumolo , have been rescued , as confirmed by the Foreign Ministry's list. Piccinini and Lotumolo spoke to leading Italian media outlets, explaining their experiences.
Tajani, as Foreign Minister, explained that the situation will be constantly monitored with the hope of receiving positive news as soon as possible regarding the three Italians missing in the flood.
The next few hours will likely be the most crucial for the lives of the three missing Italians.
