One person was also killed in a drone strike in the Saratov region overnight, Governor Roman Busargin said. A major airstrike was repelled in the Rostov region, Governor Yuri Slyusar said.
“I spoke with Prime Minister Mark Carney. I briefed him on the latest Russian attack on Kiev and the lack of warning from our partners regarding the ballistic missile launch. This is the second time this week that Ukraine has received no warning,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote late this evening on X, after a meeting with the Canadian prime minister. “A rescue operation is underway,” he added. “The attack damaged a residential building, and the fire has engulfed apartments from the first to the eighth floors. All emergency services are on site, and residents are being evacuated. So far, one person has been reported killed and six injured. My condolences to their families and loved ones.”
"There was also an attack near a power plant," Zelensky wrote, "one of Kiev's main power plants. We are counting on the support of our partners. We also discussed contacts with the United States and diplomatic developments that may occur this week. It is important that the world clearly supports an end to this war and real steps toward de-escalation—real steps that Russia will actually have to take to end its war and its murders."
