Cristian Chivu is bitter after Inter vs. Brugge. Today, Tuesday, October 13, the Nerazzurri were defeated 4-3 by the Belgian side on Matchday 2 of the Champions League: "We played a good first half. We were unlucky with a few incidents, but we managed to get back into the game. A bit of frustration and frenzy set in, which meant we lost our composure, and from 2-1 up, we went off the rails, unable to maintain composure," Chivu told SkySport.
"Congratulations to Club Brugge, but I can't say I'm not worried about the goals we've conceded. When you go behind in the Champions League, it's difficult to come back from a bad start," explained the Nerazzurri coach. "We have to work hard to face these teams who don't give you anything. We're aware of what's wrong in the Champions League, we're trying to adjust our mentality, perhaps it's due to what we carry with us.
I take responsibility, these two defeats hurt expectations, we wish things were different."
“We have a lot to do tactically, which I'm responsible for, but also mentally,” Chivu continued, “the feeling from the bench is that, out of frustration, we lost intensity, we went too far forward without fighting back on second balls.
We got the distances wrong and conceded a lot to them, we were always late and you pay for these things in the Champions League. I'm the one primarily responsible and we'll have to change something."
